Sonic Search Controller (DEMO)

Version 2.7.8

The Sonic Search Demo has been designed for anyone who wants to discover the power and benefits of the Sonic Search sound effects retrieval system through actual use. Sonic Search is sold in three feature/price configurations called Sonic Search, Sonic Search Locator, and Sonic Search Controller. The demo runs on Macintosh, and is 1.4 meg to download.

SONIC SEARCH is a modular sound management system that has been designed to take all the leg and guess work out of the sound effect lay-up procedure. The system enables users to search for sound effects from a sophisticated and extremely fast database of all available manufacturers' sound effect libraries. Sonic Search offers extensive features to simplify searching for sound effects for post production. The product includes a 1,000,000 word thesaurus, the ability to create custom libraries, and the capability to tag and print lists of effects.

SONIC SEARCH LOCATOR is the next step up from Sonic Search. The Sonic Search Locator includes all the features of the Sonic Search system, as well as the ability to locate and play sound effects from hard drives and CD's stored in CD auto changers. The Locator currently supports the Denon 1200F (200 CD), Denon 1400F (200 CD, 2 Heads), NSM 3101AC (100 CD), Pioneer CAC-V3000 (300 CD), Pioneer CAC-V5000 (500 CD, 2 Heads) and CAC-V180M (18 CD), and Sony CDK3600 (360 CD) auto changers. New features include: auditioning audio CDs from your built-in Apple CD-ROM drive, network support for sharing CD changers and hard drives across an Appletalk/Ethertalk network, and support for AES/EBU digital audio routers.

SONIC SEARCH DAW CONTROLLER is a powerful post production tool. The DAW Controller encompasses the abilities of both Sonic Search and the Sonic Search Locator, and it also interfaces with a digital audio workstation to completely automate the process of uploading sound effects. In addition, the software will keep track of and completely manage sound files regardless of the media they are stored on. The Sonic Search Controller currently controls the following Digital Audio Workstations and Multimedia Authouring Tools: AMS AudioFile; Digidesign's CD Masterlist Pro, Post View, Pro Tools, and SampleCell; Electric Image Animation System; Fairlight MFXII and MFX III, Macromedia's Director and SoundEdit 16; and Sonic Solutions' Sonic Studio.

This demo is a full version of Sonic Search Controller with the following exceptions:

Only slots 1 and 2 can be accessed for any of the CD auto changers.
Only 5 items can be uploaded to Digital Workstations per batch.
Only 5 items can be played in the Play-Selected operation.
Only 5 items can be pasted to any EDL file.
New libraries cannot be created.
No modifications can be made to the library including Add/Edit.
The 1,000,000 word thesaurus has been excluded from the demo.
Networking support features have been excluded from the demo.
Only the special demo library database can be searched. This database consists of data from all of our libraries and the first volume of the following most common sound effect libraries:

Library Name Volume ID
Hollywood Edge - Premiere Edition PE01
Sonic Boon - Dynamic Range DR1-2
Sonic Boon - The Works WORKS1
Sound Ideas Series 6000 6001
Sonic Science Foley Footstep Library FOLEY1
Manhattan - Audiophile Sound Effects FX1
Network Music and Sound Effects NET01
O'Connor - Crazies CRAZIES
Valentino - Sound Effects Library VAL01

The demo has been pre-configured to access the audio tracks on the Super Demo CD to demonstrate the Locator and DAW Controller features without the need of a CD changer. To access these clips, search for the Volume ID "Super Demo" and double click on any of the results. If you have any of the above libraries, you can access them in the same way.

NOTE: Some of the sound effects and music themes used on the demo have been indexed for the above purpose. The indexes are merely pointers to a spot in the middle of a track. Since the audio on the demo fades from one effect/song to the next, the start (or end) of some of the clips may sound clipped. The program is not playing sound files from the CD (in fact, it can), but sections of red book audio within a particular track.

SONIC SEARCH is supported through a dealer/distributor network that spans 16 countries, as well as a technical support ftp site. Through a web browser you can access our ftp site to receive software updates, new library databases, import/export utilities, and communicate directly to our software engineers. An on-line manual has been provided to help with any technical problems you may encounter, and we also provide complete printed tutorial manuals at a nominal charge.

All of our software products come with a full 30 day money back guarantee.
